On The Road Again

Welcome, welcome, one and all.  We're back on the road with THE ADDAMS FAMILY, and I simply couldn't be happier.  Actually, the best would be if I could take this production and plant it in New York, thus marrying my tour family and world with my collection of friends and favorite people in my hometown.  Sadly, it is not to be.

While I wait for dreams to suddenly start coming true, let's discuss what you've missed in the last six weeks:

Flying home from Atlanta, we all needed our various security blankets.  For Jonathan, a bag of Broadway:

...for Biggie, a twin:

We encountered some mysterious objects along the way:

And by the time I finally got home, I discovered a new couch in my apartment.  This I have no complaints about.

That's what you missed on Glee.

After running cross country for over a year, it was nice to have people come to me for a change.  In a fabulous turn of events, I happened to arrive back home as Simon arrived for a week in the states (Simon being from London, that saucy minx):

I brought him a classic Long Island bagel with lox and cream cheese, and we sat around flipping though gay British magazines.  This really happened:

Later that evening, my dad got in a fight with a bug trap.  The trap won:

Just when I thought it was safe to unpack my bags and settle in, it was time to hop on another plane to California for Jesse and Adrian's wedding love fest!

Southwest has super friendly staffers:

The wedding took place at Adrian's family vineyard; perfect weather and some of the best food I've ever had at a private event.  Below are a few of my favorite shots from the day:

Centerpieces were fashioned from fresh grapes and sunflowers from the field:

Puck bore the rings!

Jesse, the married man, accompanied by Seth, Mara, and Mr. Manocherian:

Joy 10:

Mara and I, reminiscing about the good old days of Long Island theatre:

A Jewish gay wedding, of course:

Officiant and friend, Marcy!

Mara and Marcy dancing it out:

Jesse and me, in a rare captured moment of unbridled joy and neck-smooching:

The aftermath:

Mara and the grooms:

The lovely, talented Peter:

Chris, who I hope has finally forgiven me for handing him sheet music in F#:

As in all awesome weddings, there was a photobooth:

One more time, cause its my favorite:

This song played at the wedding, then became my JAM for the weeks to follow:

Also in my list of jam-worthy things, Ms. Rebecca "Pearls" Vogel, love of my life and roomie of my past.  She moved out of the heights and into a little love nest with her boyfriend, who is arguably the best boyfriend in the history of boyfriends.  If she had to go, I'm glad she went with him.

On a warm end-of-summer Thursday, I packed my toothbrush and prepared for a night of Karaoke with Pearls and her love.  We were pretty popular; the man selling roses on the street corner gave us each our own rose:

The next morning (after Pearls' class, good lord), we grabbed a delicious diner breakfast and did a bit of window shopping:

Then Pearls took me to an INSANE bakery around the corner from her East 80's apartment.  I think it was called Two Little Red Hens, but whatever it was called, it was stupid delicious:

The cherry pie?  Easily in my top five.  High praise indeed.

That weekend, Pearls invited me to the Jason Mraz concert at Jones Beach:

There were mega hot dogs:

Awesome views:

And even more awesome people:

Later, when I was investigating the fridge at my apartment...

I found the GREATEST PICTURE of Pearls EVER:

There is nowhere to go from here.  The End.  I'm in love with my roomie, and my roomie she shall always be.
----------------------------------------------------------------

Ivy and I finally got together for a little Italian Ice and horror movie time.  Unfortunately, it was easily one of the worst horror films I've ever seen:

The only remedy?  Why, dinner with Jess and Don, of course!  Jess is a monster cook, and she prepared a salad of epic proportions:

Then she bent a bowl in half:

Continuing in the long line of reunion activities, I planned a GOLDEN BOY OF THE BLUE RIDGE jam session:

This has to be one of the top five greatest groups of people I've ever worked with.

AWWWW OHHHHHH!!!!

Singing with my love, Mark:

Carol, brought the moonshine.  No one was surprised:

--------------------------------------------------------------

My darling Robbie and I got together to talk about my upcoming website.  There were brief pauses for the culinary experiences of Astoria:

We'll talk more about the site when its close to launching... Keep your eyes peeled.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

The complete opposite of out horror movie experience, Ivy and I attended the Ben Folds Five reunion tour in Central Park:

You guys.  I can't.  This was an epic, epic, EPIC night of awesome.

I never buy concert t-shirts anymore, but I had to make an exception:

----------------------------------------------------------------

Midway through September, my oldest childhood friend Catrina came to New York for a weekend of ladies nights.  At dinner Saturday evening, I was introduced to the largest pepper grinder in the city:

After which, we all went dancing until the cows came home:

We imitated Left Eye:

And wore flashing, jelly rings:

Balanced on too-tall heels:

And played with snap bracelets:

All in all, an excellent weekend of debauchery (and 90's jewelry):

Followed by an afternoon of reminiscing:

And eating cookies:

With more old friends (Ms. Erica and Ms. Brenna!):

 ------------------------------------------------------------

Remember when I co-wrote that Newsies video?  Well, the company manager of Newsies offered our cast discounted house seats with an onstage photo op with the cast.  Naturally, I jumped:

Or, as my father might quip, I snapped it up:

-------------------------------------------------------------

Jesse, my newly married darling, returned from his honeymoon and invited me over for dinner and snuggles.  I loved his chalkboard kitchen wall:

As well as his wedding photos:

But most of all, I love Jesse.  Of course.

-------------------------------------------------------------

There are some nights you simply don't forget, especially when you're in NYC.  My dear friend Tim took me out for an extra-classy night of dinner and the arts, starting with (of all things) a very expensive 20-block pedicab ride:

Followed by dinner at the Four Seasons.  The Duck?  Oh, my god, the duck.

The cotton candy?

OH MY GOD, the cotton candy!!

There's only one reason to rush a dinner in the pool room:

AUDRA.  AUDRA AUDRA AUDRA AUDRA AUDRA.

I can't even begin to tell you how brilliant she is.  I always respected her, loved her recordings, memorized her lilts and intonations in RAGTIME... but seeing her onstage is a totally different beast.  Some people disappear into a character.  She's one of those.  Did I mention we were sitting center, row G?  Yeah, that too.

Another night I won't forget:

The night Mick and I found happiness in Washington Square Park:

We saw Blue Kid perform in Brooklyn, wandered around the lower East side, and reminded each other that we are special individuals.  Mick is one of those people who makes me feel like I matter, and I hope I do the same for him:

--------------------------------------------------------------

Dont, be sad, but we've arrived at the end.

I will miss my parents dearly, and I'm especially sad to have left when my Stelly is home watching Mulan without me, but its time for a new adventure.

Its also late, and this is a beast of a post.  If you've made it this far, I salute you.  I will attempt to make more sense in the future.  Cheers!
